Frequently Asked Questions

Pools

Can I change the size of the pool?

Due to the pre-cast nature of our pools, modifications such as increasing or decreasing size is not possible.

How deep are your pools?

Every Plungie's external shell height is  5’ 6 ½” and typical water depth to 5’ .

What is the internal finish of the pool?

The internal finish of the pool is ecoFINISH, which is a highly engineered form of powder coating.

We also offer an alternative raw concrete internal finish, this is a great option if you are looking to tile your entire pool

What is the external finish of the pool?

The external surfaces of our pools are delivered with an AS 3610-1995 Class 2 concrete finish.

Does it come with coping tiles?

Due to the nature of precast concrete, the top edge of your Plungie is not an architectural finish.  There will be slight imperfections caused by the molding process.  To maximise the aesthetic appeal and longevity of your Plungie we highly recommend the use of a coping tile.  This will not only improve the look but also help protect the concrete from wear and tear. Coping tiles can easily be added to the pool, however, we don't sell them directly.

Can I tile my Plungie?

Yes, the Plungie can be tiled internally or externally. We don't offer tiling options directly however, we can supply your Plungie with no internal ecoFINISH at a reduced price. Either you or your builder/installer/tiler can then tile it for you to make your Plungie unique.

Are the pools fiberglass?

Every Plungie is made completely from concrete.

Read more about concrete vs fiberglass here +

Does it come with heating?

Every Plungie comes with the pre-plumbed provisions for heating, however, the heater itself is an additional purchase.

See more about our heaters here +

What heating options can I use for my plungie?

Every Plungie can use an electric heat pump (we can supply you with this), gas heater or solar heating.

Can you have in-floor cleaning?

We don't offer in-floor cleaning as an option. The best thing for a Plungie is a robotic cleaner.

I've seen photos of a glass window in the pool. Can I get a window too?

Due to the pre-cast nature of our pools, modifications such as windows are not possible. We only do windows for commercial activations and installations.

Pricing

Does the price include installation?

No, the price is for the pool only, as installation costs are always site and project-specific.

Plungie engage a third party for freight on all deliveries. Where freight pricing is provided to deliver your pool to site, the price quoted is valid for 7 days due to varying third party costs.

We can also connect you with one of our Plungie Partners who will be able to undertake the installation.

Besides the costs of the pool, what else do I have to pay for?

The freight costs ensure your Plungie is delivered to your specified address on a flatbed or semi-truck. If access is not available for a flatbed or semi-truck, additional costs may be incurred.

Does the price include equipment?

Every Plungie is supplied with a skimmer box, multi-colored LED light, hydrostatic valve, and the internal ecoFINISH. Equipment such as the pump, filter, and chlorinator are separate from the pricing advertised on our pools.

We offer an optional equipment package +

How much is a crane?

Crane costs vary depending on the access available on site. We recommend engaging a local crane company to conduct a site visit and quote.

Installation

Do you do installations?

We are the manufacturer and supplier only - the installation is organised by yourself through a local builder, pool builder, or structural landscaper; depending on your location. In some locations, you can even do it yourself as an owner-builder.

We can also connect you with a Plungie Partner who can assist with the installation of your Plungie.

Does the pool need to sit on a concrete slab?

Yes, a pre-engineered concrete slab is required as the base footing for every Plungie to sit on top of. This is best practice, is essential for pool stability, and preventing point loading resulting in damage to your pool shell.

Can it go above-ground?

Yes, the Plungie can be installed fully above-ground, fully in-ground, semi-recessed, or even on a rooftop.

Do I need council approval?

Certification/council approval is required for any pool in the United States. Documentation differs from location to location, check with your local permit office for your state regulations and requirements.

Do you look after certification and approvals?

Certification/council approval is taken care of by your installer or yourself as an owner-builder.

Can I get somebody to look at my block and run through the process with me?

As a manufacturer and supplier only, we do not conduct site visits. We recommend contacting a local builder in your area or connecting with one of our Plungie Install Partners. We provide information about lifting and installing our Plungies so they can have the site-specific information they need.

What information do I need to give the crane company?

The crane company will need the dimensions and weight of the pool and the location of the lifting points. These are specified in our lifting diagrams which are location in Step 04 of our Plungie Install Guide

How far off my boundary does my pool have to be?

Boundary requirements will need to be discussed with your local Council as this will vary depending on your site and location conditions.

Can it go on a sloping block?

The Plungie is perfect for any site, including sloping blocks.

Can the pool itself be used to retain my block?

Yes, the pool can be used to retain earth. The engineering we provide covers a certain level of retaining, anything beyond this level would require site-specific engineering at your own consultation.

My soil is sandy - can the plungie still go on that?

Yes, slab requirements differ based on the soil type, but a Plungie is a perfect solution for sandy soil. We have pre-engineered specifications that will detail the requirements.

Can the pool bear weight like a deck or fence?

The Plungie is not designed to be weight-bearing. Direct fixing of structural members will void the ten-year structural warranty.

Misc.

What warranty comes with the pool?

A ten-year structural and ecoFinish warranty comes with every Plungie.

Do you sell a ladder to get into the pool?

Ladders can be purchased separately through most pool equipment providers.

Can I get swim jets?

We currently do not offer swim jets.

What is a hydrostatic valve? Why do I need one in my pool?

A hydrostatic valve helps relieve groundwater pressure on your pool shell after heavy rainfall, preventing it from popping out of the ground. Regardless of whether it’s concrete, fiberglass, or vinyl-liner, every in-ground pool requires a hydrostatic valve to prevent serious damage to the pool shell and backyard.
